Art Marker Techniques: Layering one colour
The potential to layer each hue to create new shades and tints is nearly without limit with Spectrum Noir art markers.
You can even create a range of unique shades with just one pen! Because the alcohol ink is partially translucent, a single colour can be layered and will darken with each stroke.

With each additional layer of the same colour, the resulting hue gets darker and darker.
Take a look at our video guide to see the different effects you can create with one layer, three layers and five layers of one colour.
For best results we recommend letting the ink dry before applying your next layer. This is a simple technique that will elevate your creations with realistic dimension and shade.
Why not pick your favourite colour and start exploring straight away with Spectrum Noir Classique and Illustrator markers?
