Christmas crafting is one of the best of the year for creatives! Making special cards. gift tags and decorations for friends, family and your home is so much fun.

If you want to try something new this year, why not craft your own keepsake Christmas Eve box, ready to fill with treats and treasures for your nearest and dearest to enjoy. Or, pop some presents inside for an extra-special gift box!

We’ve used the Vintage Snowman Collection to give our Christmas Eve box a cosy and nostalgic feel. Take a look!

You will need:

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Cut the following from mountboard:
    • Two pieces 10.75″ x 5″
    • Two pieces 7″ x 5″
    • One piece 7″ x 10.75″
  • Cut pieces of red card to the same sizes and attach to your mountboard pieces.
  • Apply hot glue to short edges of the two long panels and attach the two smaller panels to them.
  • Apply glue to the base panel and attach to the sides as shown.
  • Cut out 1″ wide strips of mountboard to glue on the inside of the base around three of the top edges – this will help the lid to close.
  • Cut the following out of mountboard and cover with red card:
    • Two semicircles 7″ wide and 2″ high
    • One piece 10.75″ x 8.75″
  • Apply hot glue to the curved edge of the semicircles. Bend the panel over the top and attach in place with low-tack tape while it dries.
  • Once your lid has dried, place it on top of the box and use tape to secure in place on one side as shown. Leave an inch without tape on either side.
  • Take sheets of gold glitter card from the Luxury Mixed Card and Cut the following
    • Four 5″ x 0.5″ for vertical box sides
    • Three 10.75″ x 0.5″ for the front and back edge of the base and the back of the lid
    • Two 7″ x 0.5″ for the sides of the base
    • 10.75″ x 0.25″ for the top front panel edge
    • Two 7″ x 0.25″ for the top of the side panels
    • Two 8.75″ x 0.25″ for the edges of the curved top
  • Take a sheet of gold glitter card from the Luxury Card Pack and cut strips as follows:
    • Four 5″ long for vertical sides
  • Attach red liner tape to the back of the strips and score down the centre at the 0.25″ mark. These will decorate the corners and edges of your box!
  • Match your corner strips to the edges of your box and attach in place using the red liner tape.
  • Cut out pieces of glitter card to measure 1/4″ smaller than the front side and top panels and attach to create a matt and layer effect.
  • For the back panel, attach two sheets together and cut to size, score where the ‘hinge’ line is and attach securely.
  • Cut out sheets from the patterned paper pad to measure 1/4″ smaller than the gold panels and attach to the box sides and lid.
  • Stamp scenes from the Dashing Through the Snow and O’ Christmas Tree sets using Alcohol Proof Inkpads.
  • Use TriBlend Markers to add colour then follow the instructions with your Gemini machine to die cut each shape.
  • Die cut some lampposts and a sign out from the Jolly Snowman Stamp and Die Set. Die cut a sentiment from the Seasonal Sentiments set.
  • Attach your decorative pieces across the front and side of the box.
  • Poke two hole in the top of each of the box sides, approximately where you’d like your handles to be. Loop ribbon through the holes and knot to form handles.
  • On the front of the lid create a small slot, insert a loop of ribbon through and attach the excess to the inside to create a small tab to lift the lid.
