Name: Laura Embling
From: Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, UK
When did you first start drawing/experimenting with inks/ crafting? I first started properly crafting about 8 years ago, it's probably longer but I can't remember!
What made you start? I've always been interested in all things creative. Mum used to cross stitch and make cards and I picked up bits from her, and then just started myaelf
Are you a full-time artist or is this a hobby that you love to do? This is a hobby I love to do, it is a world I can get lost in and forget everything else that is going on around me
What inspires your art? A lot of things inspire me, fellow crafters, Pinterest, instagram, even just browsing the high street and I could see a quote or some colours that work really well together and grab my attention
What’s your top tip for marker art/lettering/alcohol inks? Don't be afraid to give it a try. At the end of the day we were all beginners once and we are all still learning new ways to try things. If it goes wrong, don't be too hard on yourself. Grab another piece of card and try again! And have fun doing it!
What is your favourite Spectrum Noir product? I think it has to be the Colourblend pencils. I've spent a lot of time working with them and the effects I can get from them are amazing, and even after years of use I'm still learning new things about them!
Which Spectember theme/prompt have you chosen and why? I chose Crazy for Colour and Over The Rainbow just because I absolutely adore working with colour. Colour makes me happy and I just felt inspired as soon as I saw them on the list!
When did you start working on the Spectrum Noir design team? I started working on the Spectrum Noir design team in April/May and it's been the best few months! I've learnt so much already
