Flower seeds gift

DSC05704

In this tutorial I’m going to show you an interesting idea for a small gift.  You can use it for flower seeds or other tiny objects (candy etc.) that can fit in a little plastic bag.

The materials needed tom complete this project are:
a zip lock bag for the seeds
colored cardstock
patterned paper
ribbon
paper flowers or other embellishments
a colored image

We start with measuring the zip lock bag.

Mine is 12/8 cm and for the total size of the face of the package we should add 1 cm in every direction.

This it the overall scheme for our design. You may have and use different bags so I’m just showing you a variant in which you can change the dimensions as you like.

Afterwards we measure and cut the paper and then score and fold in the indicated directions in order to make a tent-like shape.

It’s time to punch out a decorative border on the outside rims.

And then we make two matching holes on each side where we will tie the present with a ribbon later.

Next step is to make the front panel  (you can make a back one as well but it’s optional) from different patterned papers.

When the face panel is ready and glued on it’s time to think about the embellishments.

The center of my project is the beautiful image “Pansies” that can be found on the Spectrum Noir Coloring Guide DVD and I colored it with these markers:

Pansies: LY1, LY2, HB1, HB2, PL2,  OR1, CT3, LV2
Leafs: CG1, CG2, CG4
Background: BT1, BT3

Then I added an ornate frame, doily, lace and some paper flowers but you can add whatever you like or fits your style.

When all the rest is in place we use some double sided tape to attach the zip bag on the inner back side of the present.

The only thing left is to tie a ribbon in a beautiful bow and we have an original way to give a gift to a special friend.

And to color this gorgeous image I concentrated on the Purples set, using PL2 and PL4, palette blended (never tried that technique? Watch our fabulous video here: http://bit.ly/1mVFmvP); the stems were colored with JG6, DG3, and CG2.
