In need of somewhere to store all those receipts or paperwork? Then this handy carry case is what you need. Use it as a stationery box, or leave out the inside sections for a unique and gorgeous gift box.
Whatever you use it for, it’s simple to make with the Big Score.

To make the case:
Start by butting the short side of the A3 card against the edge of the Big Score. Score at 1½”,6¾” and 8¼”. Flip the card over and re-score on the 8¼” line. Flip card back over. Turn the card 180° and score 1½” and 6¾”. Now butt the long side of the card against the edge of the Big Score, and score at 1½”. Turn the card 180° and score again at 1½”.
Fold and burnish all the score lines, then cut along each to form the tabs.
Once you have decided where you want your handle, make two marks on the two top sections of the case where the ribbon will thread through.Using 1” circles or squares, fix pieces of card over the marks (both inside and outside) and punch through. This will give you extra reinforcement for the handles.
After threading your chosen ribbon through, use red liner tape to stick it down.
To make the inside sections:
To make the inside sections that will hold items inside the case, cut two pieces of card 12½” x 4”. On each one, butt the short edge against the edge of the Big Score, and score at 1”, 2”, 10½” and 11½”. Turn 90°, butting the long edge against the edge of the Big Score, and score at 1” and 2”. Fold and burnish all the score lines, then cut along those at the side and bottom to form the tabs.
To make the outside pocket:
This requires a piece of card measuring 7¾” x 4”. Butt the short edge against the edge of the Big Score, and score at ¼”, ½”, 7¼” and 7½”. Turn 90°, butting the long edge against the edge of the Big Score, and score at ¼” and ½”. Fold and burnish all the score lines, then cut along those at the side and bottom to form the tabs.
Form the pieces by gluing the tabs on the two inside sections and the outside pocket.
For reinforcement, and ease of insertion, stick the inside sections to pieces of card measuring 8⅝” x 3⅜”. Similarly, attach the outside pocket to a piece of card measuring 6⅞” x 3⅜”.
Assembly:
To put it all together, first glue the tabs for the case, making sure that the end tabs cover over the ribbon for extra security.
Now you can glue the inside sections into the case – these will also help to reinforce the sides.
Using 1” circles or squares scored in half, attach them to the bottom half of the case. These will provide the top half with something to sit over. Finally, stick the pocket on the outside of the front half of the case.
Extras
If you want to add a Velcro fastener, to prevent the case from coming open, then cut a piece of card 1” x 2¼”. Round the corners on one of the ends, and score at ½” from the opposite end. Attach one half of the Velcro fastener to this, and the other to another 1” square of card. These can then be glued onto the case.
A lovely little detail is to add 1” circles or square to the outside corners of the case. Score each one into quarters, and remove one of the quarters. Attach them to the corners of the case.
And finally it’s time to decorate however you want.
Crafty Tip
Make your own pearl or rhinestone flowers by cutting or punching a small circle, then gluing your individual embellishments on top, arranging in whatever pattern you would like.
